					<description>I know this post was quite a while ago, but I thought I'd comment - apparently Radio 4 newsreaders took inspiration from Charlotte Green who, at the turn of the millennium, decided that the year sounded better pronounced like that.

I recall a 'report' on the Today programme (or possibly PM) about it, but Google's not so forthcoming..

Great blog, by the way - shame it's not more regularly updated.
