The history of Englishness in pop music

Filed under: Did you hear?, Listen online — joe @ 9:45 am

Paul WellerFront Row on Radio 4 last night had a special on Englishness in in pop music.

The show featured Ray Davies, Paul Weller, Damon Albarn, Simon Armitage, D.J. Taylor and John Harris talking about the very English sound typified by The Kinks, The Arctic Monkeys and many more.

Front Row really does do some great stuff sometimes. If you missed it it should be available on Listen Again for the next week or so.

  1. did you hear the Dermot O’Diddly backstage at the Brits broadcast? It could have been brilliant- Weller, Prince, Blunt- it ended up being pretty lame. He seemed a bit star struck to me. Its on listen again anyway.
